Everyone is talking about Sudoku but what exactly is it and how do you get started?
First of all, the name of the game is sudoku and it means "single number" in Japanese ("Su" means number and "doku" means single). People often call the puzzle Soduko, Suduku or Soduku but no matter how you spell it sudoku is amazing and fascinating game.
The rules of the game are simple: Fill in all the squares in the grid so that each row, column and each of the 3x3 squares contains all the digits from 1 to 9 without repeats or omissions.
The online sudoku game on this page is fully interactive. There are two input methods for inserting numbers:
1) A combination of mouse and keyboard: you select a square in the puzzle and then type and number between 1 and 9 to insert a number or the 'backspace' or 'delete' keys to delete a number.
2) Use exclusively the mouse: select a number from the numbers bar (on the right side of the puzzle) and then click on a square inside the puzzle to insert the number. You may delete a number by using the 'X' sign and then on the puzzle square that you want to clear. If you just want to cancel the last move then click on the 'Undo' button.
